A1 Aphids In The Hall
B1 You're A Martian
B2 Home
Recorded February, 1974
Released September, 1976

Limited edition of 200 copies. There is apparently an entire LP of the same name that Ralph never released.
In the mid-70s one of The Residents travelled to Portland, Oregon, to meet an unusual radio show host by the name of Schwump. He had apparently attracted the band's attention when they heard about his all-frog opera, which he'd broadcast on his show.
The Residents invited him down to San Francisco to record an album in 1974. The result was a short work called Aphids in the Hall, with The Residents performing the backing instrumentation. The songs are not very Residents-like, presumably sounding more like Schwump's own work.
According to Ian Shirley in Meet the Residents Schwump was worried about the album being pirated, so he insisted that the initial release be limited to 200 copies. However, when The Residents complied with his wishes he then complained about them not pressing enough copies to give him the exposure he wanted. After that the band lost touch with him, and didn't hear anything more from him again except in 1993 when Schwump sent in the "Please send me more information about Ralph Records" card from his personal copy of the album.
While he was in San Francisco to record Aphids, Schwump helped The Residents out with their work as well. He acted in Vileness Fats, playing a black-faced Al Jolson midget singing Mammy.

Kick In The Butt (1999)

An album filled with fun and musical joy. It will be your favorite CD. As heard on Dr. Demento, The Larry Elder Show.
My most popular CD. This album is very special. Not only have the title song, "Kick In The Butt," and the song, "The Gardeners Coming Today," received national air play on The Dr. Demento Show, but "The Gardener.." has been made into a digital video short! Also, popular Los Angeles and syndicated talk show host, Larry Elder, has personally endorsed this CD! He loves "Kick In The Butt," and you will too! This may become your most-played CD!
01. Kick In The Butt

Not For The Masses (2001)

Songs on this album are more eclectic; a little more "out there.." Thus, the title. "Crazy People: Original Version" dates back to 1972 and is the original recording. I promise, you have never heard anything like it! I Married a Girl From Mars," is one of my favorites. And "Village of the Spamed" combines the famous luncheon meat, with the classic Si-Fi movie from the 50's .... Village of the Damned!" Enjoy.

03. Crazy People

The Big Green Sea (2001)

"My delightful childrens album! "Fishies in the Big Green Sea" has two guest artists, Verna Chilton and Dan Bullard. I Love You, You Love Me," is my favorite on the album. It is about living in a tree house with the one you love! "Pickleparade" is the them song from the Doo Dah Parade entry of the same name. Just a wonderful sounding CD for kids and adults who like to go to their " inner child," every now and then. This album always makes me smile...!"

Aphids In The Hall CD (2003)

From the Contributor
Contains a re-make of the original song made famous by The Residents
This album has a classic song "Aphids in the Hall" which became an underground classic. It was originally recorded by Schwump and The Residents of San Francisco. Other great tunes on this CD are "Brains" with Patty DeFrancis and "I Have a Haunted Girl Friend" .. which is about Patty DeFrancis. I also love, "The Landlord Tenant Cha Cha Cha." What the heck.. they're all good!!

Thanks for these great shares! A Light Among The Bumps (1992) is missing one track. There should be 22 and there are only 21. There are two tracks that begin with the name Intro, but since the MP3s are not fully labeled I'm not certain which one is missing. Any chance of posting the missing track? Thank you very much! And btw, this is a killer blog!!!
There is indeed an unreleased lp by Schwump, also called, "APHIDS IN THE HALL" I have mkost of the lp and most of his, "Onomatopeia" shows that he did for KBOO here in Portland, just let me know how to send you this material, and it's yours.
Yes, Yes, Yes and YES!
I'm not at all tech savvy, I have all this rare Residents and Schwump material that I recorded from KBOO radio back in the 70's but don't know what to do about it, help!!!!!
Eye am assuming these KBOO recordings are on Ye Olde Worlde Cassette Tape.If this is the case you can digitise them with software like
Golden Records Vinyl to CD (NCH Software : Free Trial)Does Tapes Too!!!
Once you have the files you can upload them to Rapidshare / MegaUpload and share the links.
