One of the most original and therefore well-recognised work among Laswell's vast catalogue. A group of artists read pieces of the story of Hassan Ibn Sabbah, a legendary outcast and chief of nomadic assassins in the ancient Middle East. The voices are amazing (think Iggy Pop for starters), and backed up with Laswell's groovy bass and drums give you one great an experience in music. Spoken word ambient pieces are usually risky, certainly not for a casual listening, however this one is worth as many attempts as required to get the feeling of its humid, illusionary atmosphere - all the hints are there. eliks_postindustry (Discogs)

Thanks so much!
Thank you!
I checked this album out. It was horribly dissappointing. Thanks for the opportunity to check it out. I do love the majority of the other posts you have made.
Just to provide another viewpoint, I think this is one of Laswell's finest moments, period. The sense of stepping inside the universe of Hassan I Sabbah is almost visceral in its intensity and the way Laswell acts as a strange attractor to cultural workers in the musical arena and beyond when he creates a specific project is masterfull in terms of choices and diversity; where else would you hear Hakim Bay (Peter Lamborn Wilson), Iggy Pop, Jah Wobble & Ira Cohen on the same recording I wonder.
I have heard this record being called many things in the years since it came out but "horribly disappointing" was never one of them!
