Obscure

Mid 1970s conceptual label run by Brian Eno, which was initially marketed through Island Records. During the Island period all the catalogue numbers had the prefix OBSCURE NO.

When the catalogue was bought by Polydor in the late 1970s the catalogue prefix changed to OBS.
All releases were later reissued by Editions EG (EGED 21-30).

Even when I thought this blog couldn't get any cooler than it already was you go an top yourself!

I own all the Obscure albums on vinyl (but no working turntable anymore), have only 3 on CD and had found all online with exception of "Tom Phillips / Gavin Bryars / Fred Orton - Irma (1978)" and now you have posted it!

You are the best and this is the best blog online!!!

Thank you!!!

Thank you! I spent a good deal of time/money a long time ago collecting all of these but had to sell the set to cover medical bills. Great to hear them again, even if I don't get the pleasure of holding them in my hands.

Thank you for posting the entire Obscure series in one place. This will be quite the find for many collectors and nowhere else on the web are all available in the same place, that is, until poachers grab these. With the exception of Gavin Bryars The Sinking Of The Titanic, which is available elsewhere at 320 kbps, you have found the highest quality shares available. I know this from having sought these all for years and having found them all elsewhere (except for Irma, as I stated in my previous comment). As always, excellent work!

Great job! Thank you very much!

I did some research on what Obscure records that's currently available on CD.

No.1 have been rerecorded several times. The original version was finally remastered and reissued in 1998.

No.3 & 7 has been in print since 1987.

No.6 was remastered and reissued with a bonustrack in 2004.

No.9 has been rerecorded in 1988, but the original version seems a bit hard to find.

The version of IRMA here is the one from 1988.
