Ptôse is a group of minimal electronic french musicians, from Niort, active in the 1980s (from 1979 to 1987), in the french underground tape scene before being published in album form abroad and in France.

The group was present on several international compilations emblematic of the DIY movement, eg
double LP Three Minute Symphony (1984),
dual cassette Black Film - American Style (Ding Dong, 1984),
Voices Notes & Noise (33 t, Recommended , 1984),
Terra Incognita I (33 laps, Auxilio De Cientos, 1985).
They enjoyed a rediscovery and re-editions (especially among Vinyl On Demand) in 2000, with interest in old minimal electronic products.

Its members were: Lionel Jarlan, Benoît Jarlan, Pascal (zze) Elineau, Ericka Irganon, Li khuya, Patrick Pichon.

Their best known title is the song Ball (Boule) ( "Ball, ball, come here my dog, come here dirty dog", "No no no, I n'viendrai not Gaelan houplala). This song has been a compilation of special occasions (1985, Boule 1985, Ptosis Production Presents K7) with bands like Half Japanese, The Legendary Pink Dots or Mark Lane, was also covered by Renaldo and the Loaf.

This edition is the version that was distributed in France and Europe by Ptôse Production Présente. The "European" edition is paked in a plastic bag with an cover/title sheet, a booklet with info about the band, an interview and a discography and a release list of PPP itself.
