Rez - Radio & Interviews

The Residents Radio Special is a 1-hour promotional show which was originally sent out only to radio stations, in order to increase public interest in The Residents, and thus obtain more airplay for the group. The tapes features interview segments with Jay Clem, a former Cryptic Corporation executive, and covers the Residents career up until 1977, emphasizing their more obscure musical material. Impromptu background music is performed by The Residents during 10 minutes of dialogue scattered throughout the program.
This special features quite a number of rarities: both sides of the Beatles Play The Residents single; both sides of Satisfaction (which had not yet been re-realeased); Whoopy Snorp (from Blorp Esette); a medley of songs from the original Santa Dog EP; 3 of the 4 songs from Babyfingers; and even two songs from the unreleased Baby Sex album.

300 copies of this 1 hour show were sent to radio stations. No artwork was included. Only printed sheets which contained track listings. In 1983 Ralph Record began to sell copies to the public. The first 100 copies came the same as the original. The second pressing of 700-800 copies listed the contents on a white card in the cassette box. The final edition of 1000 copies has a blue card listing the contents.

Ode to Gravity: A Residents 10 Year Retrospective (April 1, 1980)

One of the most dynamic groups in avant-garde rock music is San Francisco's own The Residents; an underground ensemble which has been composing anonymously and on tape since 1970. KPFA celebrates a decade of music by The Residents with this special three hour extravaganza hosted by Charles Amirkhanian and featuring Snakefinger (frequent guest artist with The Residents) and Jay Clem (promotion director for the group's label, Ralph Records). Tonight we’ll hear selections from the complete music on the Ralph Label and premiere the 12 inch 45 rpm disco arrangement of a tune from The Resident's smash hit album "Eskimo", it's called "Diskomo" and it's killer! Don't miss "Bach is Dead", "The Electrocutioner", "Constantinople", "santa Dog" and much, much more. This is the group that was Punk before Punk, No Wave before New Wave. Although the identity of the actual members of The Residents will remain a secret, you'll hear every wacky minute of their greatest hits on this program. Don't miss it! (from KPFA Folio)

Ralph Records 10th Anniversary Radio Special!
(1982)
ImageHost.org
A small-run promotional item for Ralph's 10th birthday. The premise of this record is that Penn Jillette (of Penn & Teller fame) is locked in a hotel room for a week and given the entire Ralph Records discography to listen to and comment on. There is a short excerpt of a Ralph tune, and then Penn comments on it, and so on. Jillette dislikes the records, and by side 2 he has a nervous breakdown.

Thanks again Weescoosa!
I had never heard the 4ZZZ Radio Interview with Hardy Fox before. Just wondering if you have any more Residents material left to put up? Thanks!

I'm sorry, it's AMAZING the amount of Residents stuff you have here. Correct me if I'm wrong, but almost all is here (and then some) except for the Cube E project. What else could there be for a long time fan??? I am amazed at the collection that you have posted.
